Five hazards to avoid and five tips to stay on course.

Five Marketing Hazards That Can Send You Off Course:
Randy random: Messaging that isn't consistent with your brand or the way in which you'd like potential customers perceive your business. Are you buttoned up or more casual and folksy?
Shiny object syndrome: Campaigns that are really cool but don't actually relate your your target audience's specific pain points. No need to tout fancy upgrades if your target audience is just looking for reliable engine performance.
Not my style: Campaigns that don't reinforce the type of boating experience that you've promised to deliver. If you're all about entry level boating, don't try to be all about luxury yachting too.
Too easy breezy: Campaigns that are thrown together or aren't strategic in nature. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
A swing and a miss: Campaigns that use media channels that miss your target audience or are channels that haven't built trust with your customers. Do your customers know and trust print publications, podcasts, the internet, network news? What sources do they rely on?
Stay on the Right Heading With These Tips:
Be strategic: Design a campaign that highlights your offerings and reaches your target audience through multiple channels over a set period of time.
Speak their language: Choose images, video, and copy that resonate with the specific type of boater you wish to target.
Set the tone: Will you subtly or overtly communicate how your offerings can relieve the target audience's pain points?
Tell them again and again: Consistently reinforce what sets you apart from the competition.
Use trusted sources: The best way to get and keep the attention of boaters is by reaching them through sources that they know and trust.
